Fuel tank draining...

Is there any reason why I shouldn't disconnect the hose from the output side of the secondary fuel filter and use the electric fuel pump to drain the fuel tank? I realize that some gunk will get on the primary fuel filter element but I'm wondering if I'm missing something that would cause problems doing this?

Is it diesel or gasoline. If it is gas I would differ to using a hand pump for safety. Yes there are electric fuel pumps, but they work in a closed system. I assume you will be pumping the fuel into another tank or fuel container. Vapor explosions scare me. If it's diesel, knock yourself out, it is non-explosive.
