Fuel Consumption

I have a Jeanneau 45 DS with a 75HP Yanmar 4JH4TE. I tried the Yanmar site but can't find a table on fuel consumptions. Can anyone help?

Re: Fuel consumption

Thanks for reaching out. I found the same spec sheet at Yanmar but can't find anything on fuel consumption unless it is described differently.

from long reading of similar threads; expect to use around .65-gph at 2200-2800 rpm withn your engine/boat combo

pick a rpm that sound good and do the math each fill-up to verfy

each engine on different boats is different, my last boat with a 44-hp Yanmar used about .7-gph at 5 knots my current with 57-hp Yanmar uses about .6-gph at 5 knots; go figure!

Re: Fuel consumption

With no head wind or waves, I'm doing 1.3 gph @2500 and 7.4 kn with my 47' and Yanmar 4JH3-TE.
That has remained pretty much unchanged with three different props (original fixed, then Autoprop, now Variprop).

Re: Fuel Consumption

below is the pdf for the engine. the fuel consumption is a a third of the way down

you are
4 litres per hour at 2000 rpm
6 liters per hour at 2500 rpm
8 litres per hour at 2800 rpm
10 llitres per hour at 3100 rpm
14 litres per hour at 3500 rpm
17 litres per hour at 3800 rpm

your speed will vary with load and sea/wind conditions

Re: Fuel Consumption

We have the same engine. As noted above:

1 gph at 2000
2 gph at 2800
3 gph at 3300

At the above, we do 6, 7 and 8 knots, approximately. 2000-2300 rpms is a good, efficient engine speed for us. HOWEVER, these engines are turbocharged, and you do NOT want to run them at the lower speeds for extended periods, unless you like replacing turbos (or, at a minimum, remove, clean and replace) don't be penny wise and pound fuelish. Run it often in the upper 2000s at least.
