You didn't have AF in your freshwater?

Re: Froze My Engine Last Night

I find the ice in the bilge-water odd. If the boat is sitting in liquid water the hull is above 32* in that area.

Cold air inside the boat has to have settled on the bilge-water to freeze it.

Our boat is in the water now in CT. We run a heater in the boat to keep it at about40* Yesterday our freshwater line froze as it runs near the topsides of the hull which is above the waterline. A hairdryer thawed it out in under a minute.

Now we'll leave the door open under the sink.

The cold snap is extended this year and it's adding up.

Re: Froze My Engine Last Night

If you have temp's that fall below freezing, why do you not have anti freeze?

Others are asking but your not responding?

I live in an area that doesn't have temp's that reach quite that low, but no one would not put anti freeze in their engines, not even in there cars.

And I would think in your area that most responsible boat owners would 'winterise' their engines if not using them too. We generally don't winterise here as our lowest temps are pretty much just above freezing.

It seems odd to me to post a request on CF that is a akin to a post like, 'hey folks I found a hole in my boat, but decided to leave it as it was only a little hole and when I came back my boat had sunk. Any suggestions on why it would have sunk'

@Rustic Charm,

Point well taken.Seems quite lackadaisical.
Ancillary systems are affected,if not immediately showing up,over time and sooner then normal wear.

All the Best
