Filter Boss Experience?

We're adding a second fuel tank, and as part of that process we're contemplating adding the Filter Boss system. Anyone have any experience with the system and/or company, good or bad?

I purchased the Filter Boss Commander. Have yet to install it as I am not that stage of my rebuild. I found them helpful and good to their word.

Depending on the unit, about $1400 to $1600. Includes the filters, fuel pump, manifold, remote gauge, etc. Plug-n-play.

Just seems like a lot of money for a problem that probably isn't as common as made out. I sucked my 22 year tank last year and it didn't clog the filter or anything. and I've never cleaned that tank and doubt the last owner did.

It'll be interesting to hear back from owners of the system as to whether they have or have not needed their Filter Boss (not knocking the product itself, I'm sure it a well designed thing etc)

Seems kinda pricey as compared to some simple plumbing, even if you have to buy a professional flaring tool for the tubing. Looks like a nice "I don't have time or space for this" black box though.

But then again I'm cheap. If your tank is pretty clean now or you are planning to have it cleaned out it may be just as effective to rely on a really good filtration setup as described on the Seaboard Marine site. It makes some sense and there is quite a bit of info under Tony's Tips.
I don't have any connection with the company (not even as a customer) but found it very interesting and it may be a good alternative.

The seaboard system looks nice but I perfer the racor type filters that one can see tru. I have a self built system with a large spin on filter and cannot see what going on with the filter. I am considering converting to a racor filter. You may think a polishing system is not needed until you have a fuel problem. Never happens at a good time

I've had fuel problems. I also have a self built system. Mine consists of a single 25 micron Fleetguard prefiltering a 10 micron Racor500. There is a lot of capacity there. Time will tell how it works. I'm not claiming any expertise at all, just offering up some info.
