Engines with 5000 hours?

Looking at a catamaran that has Yanmar 4JE with 5000 hours. Any potential issues I should be aware of with engines with these hours?

Same question of the generator that is an Onan 7kw.

Thanks

Just "Run In" then!

Keep all the filters changed and the oil changed on a regular basis and you will not have a problem. If the previous owners have been doing this it helps.

If it starts easily from cold, has decent oil pressure and the engine will run up to rated rpm in gear, then it is probably ok for another 5,000 hours.

That is how I look at this.
5000 hr is equivalent to 300,000 mile in OD auto. Diesel engine needs to rebuild around 1 MM miles mark, you have plenty room to move. Besides, sailboat engines are often baby-ed by owner.

Hmmm. Voyage 500 catamaran with 5,000 engine hours. Let me guess, the mainsail still looks new?

My bet is that we're talking about a boat coming out of charter. BVI?
