Engine Oil Analysis Result

Just get back my oil result for my 2 yanmar 2GM20 with 9000 hours

bad news



The level of accumulation of fuel in the oil pan is high. This anomaly may warrant
making abnormal volume in the crankcase, lowering the flash point and fall of oil viscosity.
Possible consequences: runaway motor, seizure, hydraulic compression, .... You need to find
the origin of this disorder, adjustment, wear, sealing, ..., to correct it. We note the presence of
sodium. Doubts on the trail of an infiltration of cooling coolant, to be confirmed.
Monitor water level. Presence of metal sensitive. These pollutants do not allow us to confirm the grade of
oil

What you will do ?

if good

Change fuel pump

Change oil

Retest

have injectors tested also if compression test good

I bet if we all had our engines tested , they would find an issue.All motors break down slowly after any use.If i went to the Dr , he would find a problem for sure...but i feel fine and can still function properly.

The diagnosis points to leaking seals in the high pressure fuel pump, with possibility of blown head gasket.

Ok, so how long was the oil in the engine before the sample? Is this the results of a 50 hour life, or has it been 200 hours since the last oil change? While the results don't sound good in either case, if the oil got that bad in 50 hours this is a big problem, if in 200 or more, maybe not as bad.

On a more personal note. I have the same engine, and I only have about 450 hours on it, so I am glad to hear that yours is still going at 9000 hours! Thanks for the data point.

In another french forum, a guy as a 2GM20 who get "crazy" runing fast and faster and didn't want to stop , because to much fuel in the oil, the engine break down, 6 month after the second one (on a cat) made the same !!
cause : fuel pump, and two engine broken

It was main head, who let passing the oil,but also the freezing liquid
He found it after a lot of test , like compresion test, injector ,fuel pump,injector pump

I have read you can simpli, unscrew on injector at a time to check how the tachometer react, to see if one piston is bad ?

its only 2 cylinders?
does it run poorly, missing, rough?
I think a bad cylinder you would notice seeing it is only 2 pistons.
you can crack open the injector line, use a rag to catch the oil.
It should change the engine noticeably and equally.

how about change the oil more often as a cheap fix.
Use thicker oil.

true , where is the place in the engine you can have both :

Diesiel infiltration and cooling coolant infiltration

If the engine not freshwater cooled....you may have a blown headgasket or had water back up through exhaust in to cylinder and either down valve stems into oil.

You engine analysis should look like the one I linked to

If the engine ingested water it would have hydro locked and bent a rod.
