Installed all 4 mounts and attempted to do the shaft alignment. Seemed OK...shaft rotates 360° and no drips from PSS dripless shaft seal
. Did a sea trial and PSS leaks
... too much. Formerly it was quite dry... with an occasional drop.
To move the engine
around I used a crow bar.. not a hoist.
I had to stop work, but I think the stainless steel
doughnut of the PSS needs to be moved aft to add more pressure. I suspect when in forward gear
the prop pushes forward a bit and the engine
position may move slightly aft of its former position making the tension on the PSS plates out of spec. A guess.
I will try to move the doughnut aft... do a sea trial and if it leaks
it is an alignment issue. There was no noticeable vibration when in gear
