Engine data from D2-40

What kind of data can you expect to get out of a D2-40B with EVC and MDI? For example, I see that the linked tachometer one only supports engine hours and warnings for D2. Will I get more data if I connect a plotter with NMEA? What would have been nice is to get fuel rate, oil pressure, coolant temp etc.

Engine data from VP D2-40

You may want to try these NMEA 2000 devices.

Re: Engine data from D2-40

In general, with the use of a NMEA 2000 gateway you will be able to place on your vessel CAN bus, and see on a compatible plotter, all the data that is flowing on the engine CAN bus. In the case of the D2-40 this means:
RPM
Engine Hours
Coolant temp.
System voltage
Fuel level ( if you have a fuel sender hooked up to the MDI box)
Engine alarms ( oil pressure, water temp, charging failure)

You will not see an oil pressure reading because the MDI system doesn't support oil pressure. Also you will not see anything related to fuel flow because the D2 series engines are strictly mechanical engines....no electronic fuel control system.

Hope this helps.
