Engine anodes after freshwater conversion

Hi,

I recently purchased a long-ago-repowered Sabre 28 that has a Yanmar 2GM raw-water diesel that was converted to a freshwater system.

Is it necessary or advisable to check the cylinder block and cylinder head anodes? I’ve changed the one in the heat exchanger, and my understanding is: because the cylinder block and head anodes are only exposed to the freshwater system, I don’t need to worry about them.

Thanks!

Same post on boatdiesel. No need to check, the ones in there are coated with a film and would not work anymore any way. Antifreeze systems do not require zincs, but check your heat exchanger, if it is a after market heat exchanger there might be a anode in it.
