Elecric motors on catamaran instead of diesel

Does any one have any experience with the electric motor that the Robertson Caine lagoon 430 has installed. They are run off a main diesel generator and the mfg states less maintenance,noise and carbon footprint etc etc.any input appreciated

Carbon footprint.......you are still running a diesel or paying for generation cost at power plants for shoreside charging.....plus the legacy of getting rid of old batteries.

This whole carbon footprint (CFP) thing is a bunch of bullsh1t.
EVERYTHING leaves a CFP.
The organic manure I put in my vegetable garden comes in a plastic bag. CFP
The textile mill that makes my Michael Jordan- approved undershorts has a CFP.
The rubber, or plastic in your inflatible manufacture leave a CFP
Production of your Propane leaves a CFP
The answer-go naked until you starve to death, what they bury is your CFP-jokes on them.
Go with the electric motors, if for nothing else, a clearer conscience.

I would rather have a regulated power company who has lots of people making sure their emission system is working.

And battery recycling is very common. You can reuse a lot of the material in new batteries.

There was a good post about motor sailing with an electric motor since you can turn it on and off quickly and easily. And they are quieter when leaving a harbor early, both for other boaters and other people on your boat.

Wind and solar power can also help recharge your batteries if you aren't cruising for a few days.
