That it would be of some advantage if Poster's Country or continent was displayed when posting queries this would save some answering a area specific question.
Some posters forget this forum is part of the WWW not a local Yacht club notice Board.

Actually most of us did fill out at least that part of out bio that is shown on the left side of the page under our avatar. Stating where we are or at least the general location. Like I know by looking at your avatar you are from Australia but that's a big island

My guess would be that you know as much about Australian spare parts agents/suppliers as I do about USA ones.

I think Australia is still a country as well as a Continent.

The part about parts suppliers would be mostly true and in school back n the day we were told Australia is sometimes referred to as an island continent. Also I'm sure things have changed since my last visit in the early1990's ( Sidney and Fremantle ). ( I know opposite sides of the country)

I agree with the relevance issue however I also noticed you are the only poster in this thread that doesn't state a location below your avatar.

Someone said it previously but I'll say it again. When viewing on my smart phone it doesn't show the info normally to the left of the post. No boat info, no location, no # of posts.

I think location is pretty nice to know. For instance, If the location shown is not the US I'll use SI units. For the US I'll use the nonsensical units.

Boat type is nice to know too - i.e. if somebody asks a question and has a Catalina 30 I know I've got decent first hand knowledge. If they ask something about an Oyster all I know is I can't afford one and the keels fall off. ( <- that's just some dark humor. I'm not bashing oysters... really)

Shakey, this is a common problem we all share. It is very helpful. It is helpful to put some info in the title of the original post thread title as well. Often it is "can someone help me?" and that's it. You can hovered the cursor over it and get the first couple of lines but often that also has nothing that helps you know if you want to open or read the thread or to skip it. Saves a lot of time with the hundreds of posts on here every week. Size of boat can give a lot of help too. 28' boats are typically wired completely differently than larger more complicated boats.
