torch would work too, and without 120 volt power. Now my question is, how are the holes plugged? They are certainly plugged, or you could get no compression
, no matter how hot the intake air. I would suggest cleaning
the area well, and getting up close with good light, to inspect the holes.
I've found I can start my Universal Model 40 without using the glow plugs, using a tiny brief whisper of ether starting fluid. I emphasize BRIEF, less than half a second, while cranking. That's all it takes. Flame suit ready!
