Diesel Hose?

Because it was kinked, and I ruined
it taking it off, I need a
5/8ths id hose 4" long for
a diesel fuel return line. You'd think
it would be easy to find, but nooooo.
How long could I use a coolant hose
temporarily until I locate the proper
hose?

Depending on the material of construction, weeks to a day. Some are completely incompatible with diesel (EPDM).

You are out of business until you find a fuel hose. It is that serious, I've seen the fires and done the investigation. This is pretty standard, I'm sure you can order on-line and get it tomorrow.

Just about any auto store carries fuel hose that is good for gas and diesel.

Are you sure about the 5/8 inch ID? That seems awfully large for a fuel return line, unless it is a huge engine.

I have a 8ft length in front of me for my tank breather.Trident A1 fuel line hose,part # 500564 from Defender.

Except if a surveyor finds he will make you replace it. So what works for a Mack truck is no good for a marine diesel. BS, but that's the rules

Nevermind. I found a place with A1 hose.
Yep it's 5/8th but only after a T.

Pick the wrong hose and it won't last 1 hour...


Don't even try coolant hose.

You can get away with automotive hose for diesel for a while. (til the right stuff arrives) The main concern is the marine rated takes longer to burn through.

Better auto parts stores do have marine diesel hose. Any hose should work for a few days. Gasoline, hydraulic, lube oil hose will not last, but ok in an emergency.
