Diesel Fuel system-long

I have a fuel scrubber system for my diesel. The fuel is brought in from one of the two storage tanks, and the put through a Racor filter. From there it goes to a small run tank with the over-flow going back to the storage tank. From the run tank the fuel goes to a second Racor, then to the filter on the engine and finally to the engine itself. The excess from the engine returns to run tank. Whew!

So now to the question. Both the Racors, although different styles, are 2 micron filters. Is there any reason to change the first filter to 10 micron (as was suggested by someone) or should I just leave well enough alone?

Thanks

Hi Boomer;
Your on engine filter is most likely 2 micron. I would suggest that you have a 30/10/2 in your filter arrangement. That is 30 micron to the day tank, 10 micron in 2nd filter, and 2 micron on engine. That way each of your filters is likely to "age" at about the same rate.

Sounds like you have a good system.

Deep.

Because Yanmar warranty want's it that way?

Please run a 30 or 10mcn in the primary/scrubber elements. THe Yanmar filter installed on your engine is a 10mcn. Anything smaller will pass trhu and be burnt.
