Diesel Engine Course

My local community college offers a diesel engine course "Theory and operation of truck diesel engines and related sub-systems" for almost free.

Would this course knowledge be transferable to marine engines on sailboats?

Thanks!

Re: Diesel Engine Course

Yes! only difference is the cooling system. We use seawater to cool the coolant not air.

Yes, and do tell where it is! I'm sure others would like to know and attend the course, too, if they're nearby.

Neat -- Alameda College is only 10 min away! However, it's a 2-year program and too rich for me right now, but I am going to submit the information form to let them know that there would be interest in attending specific classes. Maybe they would consider breaking out the costs by class. I would expect they would need to cap the number of students because those seeking their certificates would need to have first priority, but it seems like this should be something they might consider if the classes don't usually generate a lot of interest. Many people learn a lot of the basic mechanical stuff through hands on training anyway. Thanks for posting!!
