Re: diesel conversion

Anything can be made to bolt to anything, but why would want a 200tdi, nice engine that they are ( I have one in my LR) but you would be far better getting a marinised diesel to start with.

Welcome BTW

Re: Diesel Conversion

Yep true but i have the boat and i have an old disco thats rusted out but a very strong engine. seems like a good fuel saving and it would give me more range

Re: Diesel Conversion

Time you get the marinising kit, even if it is available, the cost saving would be minimal if at all.
I'm not saying it's impossible, but more info would be required i.e what boat etc.

Re: Diesel Conversion

I'm guessing you have around 250 hp from the mercruiser

The 200tdi is about 100hp and revs a lot lower.

You would lose a lot of speed and you may not even get the boat to plane, so the cost of a prop change may have to factored in as well, even then it may not work well.

Re: Diesel Conversion

IF you could get it to match up to the drive or transmission you could keel cool it and avoid most of the marinzing part. You will be running along at an ripping 10 knots tops so not to worry about the drag of the cooler parts.

Re: Diesel Conversion

Do some research and see it there are exhaust manifolds avaliable for your motor I think that would be the biggest problem
