Archoil AR5100 that I mentioned above works on aluminum corrosion without damaging good aluminum. Also, brass, bronze, copper, cast iron, steel and most other metals.

Neutralize with water.

Rydlyme works good on marine growth and is biodegradable.

Hey Brown oar,

$150 for head gasket for that engine is pretty steep. I think you're looking in the wrong place. Did you mean to cylinder head? Those are $600 to $1000

I looked up the part number for a that gasket and it is < $40

15261-03310
CYL HEAD GASKET 15261-03310

The 5411 uses a kubota z500 block, which was used in a B5100 tractor.

Choose first result and you'll have the parts diagram for that engine.

find the part number, ask google to search that number and you'll have a ton of places that'll sell you a head gasket.

Thanks for the help everyone. Given that my wet exhaust manifold is also split, and the corroded-in bolts are stubbornly resisting extraction, I've decided to just junk the inboard. I'm taking off the universal specific parts in case they can be useful to anyone (e.g. hurth transmission, water pump). Since I'm selling the boat now and need it gone, I just can't spend more time on it. Thanks again for the help, and wish I had better news

Just wanted to close this thread. A month and a half replacing various parts of the engine in the Keys, six days of work with the boat on the hard trying to unfreeze the transmission to prop shaft coupling, hauling the engine out by myself, and removing the parts that the recycler wanted gone for oil reasons, and $3.65 from the scrapyard for the diesel block. Hardly seems worth it in retrospect!
