China Engines

I have an account with Alibaba so get their sales flyers.
I thought this might be interesting to people with a need for smaller engines.

My guess is you could buy 2 of these for the price of a Volvo.

Re: China Engines

Am not familiar with the HF brand of engines, but an alternative choice would be the Weichai engines. They are very good quality and perhaps the largest manufacturer of engines in China. Smallest size is 20kW if I recall. For the incredibly low cost you could keep an entire set of spares including an in-frame rebuild kit and a spare head. Distributors in Europe (Abato stands firmly behind them) and one in the USA.

Many are shipped to India for the fishing boats, although that is slowing down due to politics. We find them here in the Chinese heavy machinery.

I have a chinese engine fitted that looks just like this. It has taken a while to sort out spares - but now I have my supply chain sorted I am more comfortable.
I had a choice of buying a 2nd hand engine (fairly old) or a new chinese engine.

I fitted it myself.
