Hi All,
Recently our big ends blew out, so we have ordered our long
engine from Parts4engines.co.uk in the uk it is a reconditioned, ex MOD one, with a 12 month warranty for 1600 quid, so we are pretty happy about that and as my brother is in
shipping, he is getting us a good deal on that too.
Whilst we are doing all this
work, we have decided that it would be an ideal time to change the old style starter
motor (MG 45) for a new style one with solenoid included as our positive post is wobbly and we have had it re-built once in
Panama (2008) and have been nursing it ever since. The problem we are facing is this......how do we go about it? has anyone else done this on an old (1977)
Westerbeke? if so how did you do it?
We have been trying to find a new flywheel, but no joy, so some
advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to all, will be back in touch when we hit Darwin, around 22nd/23rd July.
