CAV fuel filter ports

My CAV fuel filter ports take 1/2 inch UNF fittings and the only fittings I can find are straight hose tail fittings. The particular installation I am planning wants elbow fittings at the filter and this requirement has become problematic. Most of the available fittings I've been able to locate are BSP sizes. A 1/4 male BSP thread is close to fitting a 1/2 inch UNF, but not perfect. (19 tpi BSP versus 20 tpi UNF and 13.16mm vs 12.70mm O.D.) Has anyone any experience in either forcing a 1/4 BSP thread into a 1/2 UNF or, alternatively, re-tapping a female 1/2 UNF with a 1/4 BSP tap?

I suspect the first option might work as the housing is aluminium and using a thread sealant should make the joint leak proof. But I'm nervous about experimenting before I hear about someone else's success.

Re: CAV fuel filter ports

Modern thread sealant works but not Teflon tape. Once you position the fittings you can't move them later or you will break the seal.
