Calcium Build Up

I Have a calcium buildup in my yanmar 3HMC 27 hp engine, any good ideas about clearing it out, mechanic says an acid flush but this could damage seals

Re: Calcium build up

I assume that this engine is salt water cooled. The only seals that I can think of are in the water pump. Rydlime, CLR, Barnacle Buster, or even muriatic acid won't hurt them. But make sure that you flush real well afterwards. Even add a cup of baking soda (not powder) to the flush water.
