We are fitting out our Ganley Shadow 34 for long distance sailing.
I have 2 gearboxes in my possession: A PRM 120 and a PRM 150.
PRM 120 is a mechanical gearbox
rated for pleasure craft only.
PRM150 is a hydraulic gearbox
, which is rated for commercial
use. The hydraulic gearbox has 2 hydraulic clutches in it and transmits more power, as well as handling both a left hand and right hand prop.
I am trying to weigh up the best one to fit – whether simpler or sophisticated is better.
