Atomic 4 replacement with Yanmar 2qm15

The exhaust output at the mixing elbow on my Yanmar 2qm15 fits a 2 inch ID hose. The uplift on my boat is 1 1/2 od. Is it Ok to step down from 2 inch to 1 1/2 on the exhaust line. Hose going from the uplift to output at transom is also 1 1/2. I'm just thinking of back pressure but not sure. Thanks
