Re: Atomic 4 engine and year old fuel question

If you’re at the dock , secure your lines and fire it up and put in gear anddo your at dock sea trial. Get all the bugs out at the dock. Thenchange out the filters and engine oil from the crappy gas.
Dont fill tank unless you intend to use it.

Re: Atomic 4 engine and year old fuel question

Half a lifetime ago I rebuilt a A4 and the owner of the boat had gas that was several years old and it did fine on its break in run. It is based upon a tractor engine, my two 1950s farm tractors burn all my old stinky gas that I don't want to run in anything else. My rule is if it going to sit ( as in back up generator )put stabilizer in it and burn it within 6 month or drain it feed it to the old tractors. Also the carb are easy to take apart and clean if i need to. If it was my boat I would put a water separating filter inline and burn it up maybe mixed with some carb cleaner.

Re: Atomic 4 engine and year old fuel question

The A4 was designed in the '30s using Ford model A technology. Hell, it doesn't even have a center main. Maye one step above a Wisconsin V4 hay baler engine, and the carb is basically a 1928 Zenith. Indestructible!
