As originator of this ridiculous post....based on the inf provided to me. I will start my diesel at exactly 2000 rpm. Thank you for your answers.

In response to the post above "how long to warm the engine up". Personally I have no idea as I just bough this boat. However, when I launched it there was a crusty old diesel mechanic in the yard, Since I wasn't even sure how to start the thing he was kind enough to come on board and show me how the thing worked, how to use the glow plugs etc. He told me " start your engine and let in warm to 150 -180 degrees before you put it in gear." so that was his advice for what it's worth.
