Anyone use Soda Blasting to Clean an Assembled Engine.

I am helping a friend with a rusty old Volvo, and we want to clean it up and paint while it is out of the boat. I know that sand/bead/grit blasting is a potential disaster for an engine, and the best( dry ice blasting) only seems to be available on a large scale commercial basis. I dont know anyone that has actually used soda blasting, so I thought I would ask here. Any help will be appreciated.______Grant.

Re: Anyone use SODA BLASTING to clean an assembled engine.

If you take off , injection pump, injector lines , and all the related stuff prone to damaged like seals, gaskets, etc... soda blast can do the trick , plugging all the posible points where the grit can reach the internal engine parts, air inlet etc... lets say just the block. Spraying later a 2 part hig temp epoxy primer , cool...
