Amps on Perkins heater?

I'm trying to get my cold weather heater going that is in the inlet manifold.
Does anyone have a rough idea of how many Amps it might draw so I can get an idea of the size of the Pos wire to it?
I'm going to have a relay near the engine & the total power wire will be only about 4ft.
As fuel flows on heating will that save it from 'burning out' if I hold it on too long?
Roughly how many seconds do most here hold it on heat before engaging starter?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Amps on Perkins heater?

I have a Perkins 4108 running a generator. It has glow plugs in the intake that use about 15 amps or less. I rarely have to use them, but push the button for about 10-15 seconds in really cold weather.
