All lights come on running engine

I was motoring for a few hours and suddenly three of the four panel light came on. The only one that does not come on is the Alternator light. Now when I start the engine the three lights light up. Anyone have any idea what is happining?

Are these alarm lights? Or...?

If so, how is each of the 4 labeled?

Re: All lights come on running engine

Unlikely that 3 of 4 would light up from an actual engine fault and then repeat on startup. My first suspicion would be a short in the wire harness or a faulty control panel component.

What specifically do the lights indicate?

Re: All lights come on running engine

Something is shorting out. Try dis-connecting each component one by one and see if the other lights go out. I had this happen on the Volvo panel once and it was a short in the temp guage causing a direct ground to all of the other guages.

yes, need more info on what lights, generally ground is common for indicator lights ,temp, oil press ect. might check key switch for condition, if ok check condition of engine harness

If it's a Volvo, check this link. Certain combinations of lights on Volvos mean different faults.

With the alerts come on for no reason can have common grounding disconnection.
