adhesive and diesel?

I need to put some metal plates inside my fuel tank. They will be secured to the inside top of the tank with machine screws coming thru from the outside. When I remove the screws I don't want the plates to fall into the tank so I need to use some adhesive that will stand up to diesel. The access hole in the tank top is covered by a sheet metal plate secured by self tapping screws. What a crappy design. Need to replace them with machine screws. Thanks

Re: adhesive and diesel?

I haven't looked for it in a while, but there used to be available a diesel tank repair epoxy.

You might find this article of some interest: Good Old Boat - The epoxy "cure" article

And, here is an example of the product I have used: http://www.itwconsumer.com/versachem...pair%20Kit-150

Good luck,
