Adding Fuel Pickup to Diesel Tank

I have a simple Parker fuel polishing system and I want to install it in a manner that uses a dedicated pickup and a dedicated fuel filter/water separator. How does one go about adding a second fuel pickup/withdrawal to a plastic tank (came stock with my Beneteau)? Is it as simple as drilling a hole? I'd be afraid to get plastic shavings in the tank.

I'm afraid I don't know what is in your boat. If it has a "standard" Moeller type fuel gauge fitting you can get a replacement from Moeller that has a fitting to allow you to out on a bit of hose as a pick up.

You have to be careful, there are two part numbers, one allows a return only, the other will work as a pick up or return.

It's a bugger to find on the web site.
$60.

Ah ha! Found it, first try.

Can a return or pick up be added to my fuel tank?
Yes, with a Moeller sending unit with a return built into it. (035724-10 just a return)(035789-10 pick up or return).

Re: Adding Fuel Pickup to Diesel Tank

That is the correct way to install it if you can. To have a separate pickup lower then the engine pickup tube
