You might be onto something with the bit about depression.
The mechanic is booked for tomorrow morning 10am.

Your corrected version still doesn't make sense, at least, not to me.

where you say

<<If any cause the engine to drop speed and run rough then, that is NOT a problem cylinder, start by removing that injector for inspection.>>

Why would you remove the injector of a cylinder which was not a problem?

I presume you mean to say something more like this:

<<If any DON'T cause the engine to drop speed and run rough then, that is a problem cylinder, start by removing that injector for inspection.>>

I really think you should check out any protection devise (if you have any, usually for LO and overspeed), fuse, corroded terminal, anything that would effect the power supply to the Shutdown solenoid.

You'll feel like a goose, if the mechanic discovers something so fundamental.

Think its normally powered on when you turn the ignition "on" cose as a fail safe it will shut down the engine. So can you please check the voltage at the S/D devise with the ignition turned on. Should be 13V or so, you may have to disconnect it or go upstream. Will take 2 minutes.

You can all expect a full, blow by blow account.

Coincidently I am seeing my accountant tomorrow. I hope it’s not an omen.

I have checked the power using a multimeter, to both the glow plugs an solonoid while switching on and off I am certain they working fine. My engine controls are at the engine but there is an on oof and start switch in the cockpit. Been there and checked that aswell.
As far as looking like a goose. Far to late for that.
But I have learnt a hell of allot. Just need to get sailing again. Its driving me nuts.

Re: 50hp Perkins won't rev past 1900rpm

Here's my thoughts.

#1. Air in the System. This can cause a no start, as well as not reaching max RPM.

#2. Air in the system, this can cause the plungers to become scored, this can cause no start, as well as not reaching max RPM.

Now the first post was about the engine not reaching max RPM, after you had run out of FUEL, which means air in the system. Then when the mechanic came on-board it magically fixed it's self.....That was a different thread/topic.

Next, and the point of this original topic is the engine won't start after a change of the fuel filters.

You have demonstrated by your posts that you didn't know how to properly purge the Injection pump of air, and you continued to tick it over on the starter....this can damage these style of pumps.

So in the end I guess it will be "Air in the system". Or. "A damaged Injection Pump" from first running out of fuel. And then the filter change without proper purging the IP, with/continued ticking over on the starter, without proper purging of the IP which can damage the IP.

The root cause, in the end will be air in the system.

Else the energize to run circuit has a high resistance connection someplace, that may be intermittent.

Lloyd

All the mechanics gona tell you is that your fuel pump is bu**ered and your injectors need rebuilding. My wild guess.

Re: 50hp Perkins won't rev past 1900rpm

In reference to this problem I posted on here a while ago about a modification to the engine fuel filter to help make the diesel bleeding easier on the Perkins engines, here are the details for anyone who's interested.
To change the split CAV filter to a 'spin on' type you will need conversion kit part no 302040.
To fit a fuel primer pump on the intake side of the spin on conversion you will need part no 302066.
You will need a longer Banjo bolt part no 302059 with new brass washers part no 302099.
These parts are available from ASAP supplies.com. Approximate cost 56.00 plus shipping.
I hope this helps someone.

Buttered fuel pumps are not easy to get hold of.
