Re: 4107 liners

As I understand it, the difference between a 4-107 and 4-108 is that one has liners and the other doesn't and I don't remember which is which. I had a great running 4-107 many years ago and loved the engine but for the life of me I can't remember if it had sleeves.
I throw that out just as a thing to check. Obviously you know more about your engine than I do but just in case?

Re: 4107 liners

G'day,
When ordering perkins 4.107 parts supply your full engine details to the agent because the first of the series only had 2 seal rings before changing to 3 seal rings also the very last of the series are fitted with dry liners.

Re: 4107 liners

I just aquired another 4-107 for parts. I've ordered new liners for mine so I'll have a set I'm pulling out. Hopefully they come out easier than the last set I pulled. Don't know about "newish", they have some carbon around the top but I think I can still see the cross hatching in them. PM me if you're interested.

Re: 4107 liners

Thanks for the welcome and advice!

Liners seemed a bit pricey new but for an extra 100 cowries we could get a full rebuild kit that includes the liners, new pistons and rings, bearings, front and rear seals, thrust washers, and full gasket kit which seemed like a good deal.

The new liners are in and looking much better, especially than the one with the hole in it..

Seems like having isolating switches on your alternator/ starter +ve leads, anodes replaced and adequate coolant are good things to maintain..
