Aloha Monday,
You probably have a commercial or industrial one. Mine is plastic and uses AA batteries.
Captain K,
If you can get a seller to send things via Parcel Post postal service it is really quite cheap. There are some companies that insist that they must use FedEx or UPS. I don't deal with them anymore.
Annapolis Performance Sailing is one of those. I asked them to send a handful of Sunfish parts for our sailing club and they said shipping would cost $35. I asked if they could stick it in flat rate priority USPS box for $9 and they said no. It wasn't their policy. I don't buy anything from them anymore, its not my policy.
Kind Regards,
JohnL

Hi Guys.... same here. I've been shipping things in & out of Hawaii for 40 years and I just refuse to do business with companies who won't use USPS priority mail. I don't mind using UPS or Fedex if I want it asap but I want the option. I did pay $100 each way to ship my injectors & pump (21 lbs) to the west coast 2nd day air but I was in a hurry. Don't like my boat out of commission. I guess some of us are funny that way. I treat my boat like I'm married to it. My wife has the same opinion but she's a good sport.

Aloha........Gerry

Aloha to all. At last the handheld laser tach arrived. The following are incermental results.

Boat tach_____ Handheld

550 rpm________650 rpm

1000 __________1750

1100__________ 1950

1200__________ 2150

1300__________ 2300

1400__________ 2450

I didn't check any higher as it won't rev any more than 1400 in gear. Under load, in gear, engine seems very happy at 2300 rpm but at 2450 starts to smoke & soot. These numbers make more sense as the navy rates this setup at 25hp @ 2400 rpm. Motor ,tranny & prop are all original navy specs. This boat is somewhere between 25 to 30 years old (haven't verified actual build date yet) & I have been running it between 1950 rpm & 2300 rpm for the last 3 years and it seems to be happy so I guess I'll just keep on chuggin'.

Thanks for the help & aloha..............Gerry
