| Just to report back...
We took our 5-month old Boston Terrier puppy down to our boat for six days over the 4th of July, and she did GREAT! We kept her tethered whenever she was in the cockpit, and she did fine sailing or at the dock. Slept through a lot of it. Never seemed scared at all (though a bit surprised with our first tack, then she got used to the sound of the winch). We had light winds, though, no heavy weather. We put her her in her kennel in the salon when docking so she wouldn't get underfoot, but other than that had her with us all of the time. She's already turning into a fantastic boat dog! elf |

Miniature dachshund. I like it that she can't get out of the cabin by herself. Whenever she's on deck or in the cockpit while we're underway, she wears a life jacket. Besides being safer, it has a handle on the back and she thinks she can't jump when she has it on.

I have a Golden retreiver/ Black lab mix named BANDIT he's got the shorthair of a Lab, the size of a golden, the smarts of both, the protectivness of both, and the stability and love of water of both. Overall he's a really great dog.

Two Cocker Spaniels, one is 7 yrs, the other just turned 1. The puppy keeps us busy on land, however on board she like to curl up under the dodger, while the older girl just goes nuts for the bow wave (dolphins send her ballistic). Cockers are good around water, don't shed and are good lap dogs.

We have 2 dogs aboard. Smokey is a island mutt they call coconut retrivers. And Bandit is an Australian Cattle dog. In Bandit's pic was taken while I was in the middle of shaving her. They both do great on the boat underway or on the mooring.

| Roxy The Sailing Corgi
We have a Welsh Corgi as well that is very adaptable to all conditions from healing over in our old mono hull to the comforts of our catamaran. She's good on the boat, cruising in the RV, going for rides in my wifes convertible and even surfing.., Always a trooper and always ready to "Go For A Ride" but boy she gets bummed when we leave her home with the cats (last photo). She sleeps real well on the boat and often takes an afternoon siestas when she's had a hard day of sailing. I'll have to say that she does prefer the RV more than the boat being that she gets walked more which means being able to smell around the campgrounds and bark at other dogs verse being isolated on the boat for longer periods of time. We also have boat friends with a Yorki that does well onboard and have seen many Skipper Keys that are notorious boat dogs. I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your Corgi and hopefully you have some great pictures to remember the great times. They are definitely part of the family. Here's a few pics of Roxy that I hope you enjoy..,
