Teens or Tweens Cruising in BVI

We have a 12 year old boy and 14 year old girl on board our 55' catamaran. We have taken them out of school for a year. Currently in the BVI, until about 12/1/09, then (generally) to Panama, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Bahamas and back to US east coast in July 2010.

Any cruisers with kids around the BVI in the month of November?

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Dragon.

What a great adventure, for you and the kids!

Cruised the BVI earlier this year and found most (boating) youngsters at The Bight on Norman Island, and most (shorebased) youngies at Jost van Dyke. Welcome to the forum and enjoy the year!!

Thanks all for the welcome. We are in The Bight right now. I realize that we are here just a little "early" in the season. Pretty quiet out there.

My wife and I sailed around the world 25 years ago. We would normally be looking for the holes where no one goes. We are retraining ourselves to go where there is more "action." Not an easy transition.

I appreciate the suggestions.

You know the season is kicking in when the Willy T opens up! Bushwackers ashore at the Bight can be expensive, lovely beach and dock though. Perhaps the Bitter End may be a bit more lively for the kids this time of year. Cold and wet here - can't believe you're mailing back from the Bight!! Fair Winds!!

Will it make you feel better to know that it has snowed over 14" here in the Bight overnight?

Kids (and Mom/Dad) had to get an internet fix, and this spot is pretty solid.

Thanks for the thoughts.

fifteen and twelve year old boys, cruising with parents, and hoping to be up the east coast mid to late summer 2010. But, our track record on plans working out is spoty at its best.
