Who does a really well-finished cat?

We would like to upgrade from a mono to a live-aboard cat in the 44-55 foot range. While there are many monos that do splendid interiors ( Hylas, Hinckley, Tayana, et al) there do not appear to be equivalent multi- hulls. Are there any? The Cape Royal comes close but is portrayed as very slow for its size. Is this because Taiwan is not in the cat- building business? Weight re. laminates? Am I missing makers? They sure cost enough.

From what I've seen every production boat uses laminates somewhere and that really distracts.. But the nicest interiors of the production boats I've been on have been Antares, Privileges, and PDQs. We have a leopard and the first wood that's going is the laminated cabinet doors.. That'll be a nice improvement. The rest, I'm happy for now to have white and minimum maintenance.

Finish is heavy, and weight is a very bad thing in a multihull

That said, 1993 and older Catana have plenty of wood finish

Going to be difficult to find on production cats.

You can spend as much as you like to achieve the finish you like on a custom built vessel.

I'm no expert on cats, but the St. Francis looks nicer than most that I have seen. There is one here where we are - 2006 - 44 St. Francis 44 Mark II - Fine Line

I suggest you have a look at the magnificent woodwork in the Antares 44i that is now made in Argentina.

Privilege comes closest amongst the production boats. Not one square inch of exposed fibreglass anywhere inside my boat (except in the heads of course)

Hard to beat the finish of the Privilege in the production cats, and the Antares is also well worth good look. (there is a new 45ft model Privilege)

The St Francis 50 is a nice custom boat, but quality issues in the build make the need for continual supervision (see major thread on this site) - but you do end up with a really nice boat

My Dad had an early-80s Prout Quasar that had a beautiful teak salon. The parkay (sp?) was a bit of a pain. But other than that, it rivaled some monos. Some of the other smaller Prouts did nice work, as well.

Lagoon cats have great finishes. Check out the L450 or L52

But it's so cramped and tiny, why do you keep suggesting monohulls on a catamaran forum? Look at this interior

New Outremer 45 as we'll next year, I think. I'd be surprised if finish isn't to a high standard.
