Usually when we have to rent a crane to handle rigs etc that are beyond the scope of our equipment we try to organize it so we can do several at once because cranes charge by the hour from base to base so piggybacking several jobs saves each customer money.

Re: Where and how to haul a 31' beam trimaran for maintenance
If new England is an option check out Fairhaven Shipyard in Fairhaven, Ma. (New Bedford) on Buzzards bay.
They service both yachts and commercials vessels with their
30 ton, 300 ton, 400 ton travel lifts and 1000 ton railway.
Last time I was up there they were getting ready to haul a 105 ft. yacht.
I could not stay and be part of the peanut gallery as had to make a favorable current thru Woods Hole.
(They seemed just as happy to deal with me and my 30 fter.)
Do not know about diy but give a call. They are approachable and easy to deal with.

31' rules out most travel lifts but a marine railway or hydralic trailer would also work OR.........
I desperately need help from someone familiar with hauling very wide beam Trimarans or Catamarans!
Thanks,

Last I knew Annie's wasn't a do it yourself. Since it's a railway they want you in and out? The joys of tri ownership.

Re: Where and how to haul a 31' beam trimaran for maintenance
Birdsey, Bridgeton Boat Works in New Bern has a hydraulic trailer and I believe they still have a crane next to shore. I remember them telling me they lifted a good size tri out with the crane. Not sure if the 77 ton wide Travellift will handle 27 ft but might.
I looked into having a local crane come in but the cost just wasn't worth it.
Jarret Bay's big lift might be wide enough also.

Re: Where and how to haul a 31' beam trimaran for maintenance
Hi Sailorman Ed,
That would be PERFECT as I live in Salibury and New Bern is the nearest inlet to the Atlantic. I have had boats on the Nuese for many years and currently have my "little" 31' C&C Corvette at Duck Creek Small boat harbour in Bridgeton!
Thank you,
Garth

I believe St. Augustine Marine (Fl.) has a railway that can haul you.
