What's wrong with this boat?

2012 Lagoon 450 sailboat for sale in Florida

There's gotta be something seriously wrong with this boat, and it can't be "stronger than new". Or maybe it IS stronger, but also a lot heavier.

Anyone know specifics about this one?

Re: What's wrong with this boat?

There were 2 L450s damaged at the same time in the Bahamas I believe. One had the entire bottom ripped out. They were both covered on lengthy threads here. I wonder if this is one of them? I also wonder if it has a salvage title and that could answer your question.

Whoa! I bet they didn't expect that CF would be able to pull up shots of that boat so quickly!

Only because it was rescued off the coral reef.

Re: What's wrong with this boat?

I lived in the Bahamas and have surveyed 2 monohulls that struck the same reefs and needed to be craned off the bottom.
Keels ripped out of the bottom.
Go see for yourself in Marsh Harbour.
Another cat, holed but repairable, towed to yard.

Re: What's wrong with this boat?

Sad to see a cat with such damage. Not an easy job to replace the hull bottoms and keels.

Re: What's wrong with this boat?

While weighing up the pros and cons of monohull vs cat, this sort of reinforces my preferences to a cat with daggerboards bonus points. most of the tropical areas have plenty of shallow areas, and a 2 meter draft would make things much more difficult.

Re: What's wrong with this boat?

I love the line in the ad: "Damage was all below waterline so she looks like a new boat"
So they're selling 'looks' more than anything else
