Re: What size chain are people using for their cats

Using Maggi Aqua 7. 8mm our cat is about 8500 kg
I had it proof tested at 3500 kg and break tested. Can't remember the actual break but it was over the 7000 kg rating

I ordered a matched gypsy from lofrans. (Using a tigres)

Regards

Paul

The Canadian distributor that I have been working with is found at Marine Outfitters - boating electronics accessories supplies hardware sailboat power - Ontario Canada. There prices are quoted in Canadian $.

Re: What size chain are people using for their cats

We use 12mm chain through a Quick 1600W windlass. It's a Lagoon 440 so 13.6M LOA. We're not sure of exact weight, but we assume it'd be 14-15T fully loaded with fuel (670L) and water (900L) and gear; the latter including a fair amount of stock for our business as the vessel works as a floating gallery of cruising comforts.

Back to the chain, we recently replaced the windlass and through that experience noted that it was important (if you're using 12mm chain) to specify the chain spec. There was a general assumption toward the 10mm chain.
