What´s the value of this boat???

I´m interested in a catamaran like the one in the picture, it´s a Dean 33, from 1988. I still have to spend around 8.000,00 euros with reparations. The reparations it´s things as painting work and carpentry work inside the cat, and a new hidraulic system for the rudder. Can you help me to decided the value, that I should offer (a fair price). Thank you.

And sorry about my bad english.

There are a few 1985 Dean 36 listed on yachtworld for about 120K US. Maybe the listing brokers could give us an estimate of value.

Hi there I found a few similar boats sold in the range of $86,000-$112,000. Personally I would put in a bid a bit lower than the average selling price (based on the research provided). Remember this is the buyers market.

Thanks Chanty

It appears the market for one that the owner has already done a lot of work is $120,000 (77,000 euro) Assuming it could be bought for $100,000 (64,000 euro) in todays boat market. That means if you can get the boat you are looking at for just under $90,000 (58,000 euro), you are about even with purchasing a boat that someone else has already done most of the work.

The problem is the assumptions 1) you can fix the fix up boat up for only $12,000; 2) the other boat doesn't need anything addition spent on it.

Rule of thumb when figuring the cost to repair a boat; double of triple what ever you estimate.(and that is not even counting your time and labor)

Again using $100,000 as a base point, I wouldn't give more than $65,000 (39,000 euro) for the fixer upper. IMHO, spending any more and you are better off getting the boat for $100,000 (64,000 euro) with most of the work already done.

Have a look around at some of the sites where private owners advertise, like the different multihull clubs in each country.

>Here is a pretty nice boat: Multihulls.dk

for 50.000,- Euros.

Have a look at : Mehrrumpfboote - Katamaran - Trimaran - Proa - Multihulls as well.

If you have your heart set on the Dean, then without knowing the state of the boat otherwise, I would probably go even lower than what Idrhawke says. We are approaching the slowest part of the boat season soon (winter).

Good luck

Alan

If the cat is located in SA the price will be lower than in other locations .
Good luck
