Voyage/Maxim 380 in Europe?

The Maxim and the Voyage 380 are identical boats the maxim marketed direct and also thru voyage , both well build quality By Maxim °yachts out of Durban, the African cat is a different design by another designer, 6 ft longer 4 ft wider , built in Epoxy thru resin infusion without gell coat and extremely light weight and fast.

Didn't Fastcat have a 38' that looked just like the Maxim/Voyage but built with the epoxy resin infusion?

Yes we have produced one stretched and widened and increased height version with epoxy resin infused maxim with a lenght of 40 ft , the cat had a weight of less than 5000 kilo, different rudder and keel and a changed interior unfortunately the boat got damaged beyond repair when it was shipped on a steamers deck in between durban and cape town.
it did do over 10 knots on engines but we never got to sail it unfortunately.

Voyage & Maxim have had a reciprocal arrangement- Maxim built product for Voyage on a cooperative basis- Voyage put their excellent marketing into selling a superbly built boat that was designed by Simonis/Voogd. Incidentally, the 38' was originally the La Digue 37, but was wedged and scooped to become the 38.
Elsewhere on this Forum you can read about the uphill struggle of South African Boatbuilding- Maxim have had a helluva problem with the SA Government and their shortsightedness- essentially they have been forced to suspend operating because their is no land available for them to build yachts on within easy reach of the harbour, and no reparations have been made or alternative solutions sought. The moulds for the 38' are now elsewhere in the country, and are no longer a Maxim product.
With respect to Gambler, btw, there are three designers who have made their names as South African catamaran architects: Angelo Lavranos, Alex Simonis, and Phil Southwell, and they all have their own styles. It's a bit like saying all American cars look like Fords!
