UK Collision - Tri v Trawler

A small trimaran, steering with difficulty after rudder failure, was hit by a trawler despite attempts to warn by Radio of difficulties in manoeuvring. Coast Guards were called and towed the tri to safety (f7-8) and they later motored back to their home base at Kemps Wharf, Southampton. The mast had to be cut away and was recovered on deck but CoastGuard were reluctant to tow (prop fouling with steel cable disables most motor boats) so the mast had to be ditched. CG Helicopter located a trawler which denied all knowledge of any incident. Insurance will sort this all out eventually.
The riging was cut away quite easily thanks to some cheap bolt cutters, handling the tangle was harder in those conditions.
I'll add more info as available.
