TRT 1200 Catamarans

I'm currently looking at a used TRT 1200 comfort from Norway.
I couldn't find any information on the manufacturer.

The TRT Catamarans seemed to build in Norway.
Any information would be awesome.

In the advertsiment they say it's an offshore performance catamaran.
What is the resume off the TRT 1200?
Is it seaworthy as the say?

Thanks allot for the feedback!

Andi

Re: TRT 1200 Catamarans

We own a TRT 1200 GT and to be honest haven’t sailed her enough to give an accurate report. Numerous TRT’s have crossed oceans but they are powered up performance machines that demand the skippers respect. From our limited experience even deeply reefed in light to moderate conditions she still outperforms the majority of other cats with full sail up.

Dear smj

Thanks allot for your feedback!
As I'm quite used to sail on fast boats as I sail and race F18's and F16's allot

My concern was more durabilty in the longterm.
I don't like things beeing to fragile. What is your impression here?
I wonder also if it is possible to let dryout in low tide as it is a sandwhich construction.

Many greetings Andi

It’s foam cored construction except for the very bottom of the hulls which is a thin layup of solid glass.
They made 2 different designs, one with spade rudders and one with dagger style raising rudders. I’m not sure if I would want to risk it with the spade rudder setup, but the dagger rudders......Click image for larger version

Re: TRT 1200 Catamarans

Thanks again!

The one I'm looking at a TRT that has indeed spade rudders. So maybe this is not an option.

I'm going to visit the boat I'm looking at in January. It will be interesting!

BTW I wrote to Marius the norwegian designer and coudn't get any feedback yet. So your feedback is highly apreciated!
