Guys, go to your own profile page (user cp button in blue line at top of page) and join the SEARUNNER TRIMARAN social network. Then, start posting pics to the gallery of Searunners. Jack, I recommend your avatar as the avatar of the social group because there is nothing more distinctive than the bow shot of a Searunner.

Good Idea Roy, but easier said than done for a computer challenged "cave man boat builder" like me. How does one create an album? Get a link to type in?
Jack, have enjoyed all of your albums... Job in Alaska, Home in Oregon, another home in Sea Of Cortez over looking your Searunner... Damn, you're doing well!

Mark, we need your contributions on the group photos! See if I can guide you into this. I just learned myself (thnx Roym)

Go to "User CP", far left side of the thin blue bar above.
On left side part way down click on "pictures and albums"
It should say "add album"
Give it a title and description and hit submit
It will say "click here to upload albums"
Then it will be just like how you upload to the forum. Hit the browse button, find your pic, do this 3 times and hit upload.
It will display the 3 pics. You can delete any file info and add any text you like. Hit enter. You will have the start of an album now.
At the bottom it will say, "add pictures to a group" click on that and a window menu comes up, Searunner will show up if you click on the menu window (as you are a member)
Click on add pictures and you are done! They should show up in the group photo section right away.

So......c'mon now, hope this works, and if not, shoot us a why not

Hi JMolan,
Are you in the Sea of Cortez now? I am the guy who almost bought Patches. Sea of Cortez yachts has a 37' Searunner listed. I was wondering if you were in the area and would mind taking a look at her for me. I am nearly tempted to purchase boat "blind". Key word there is 'nearly'. I have had offers in on two other monohulls recently and for one reason or another the deals tanked. Maybe to my good fortune. I am waiting to here back from Sea of Cortez Yachts on condition of the searunner. Packing my bags now so to get down there shortly.

Larry , I only know of one 37' Searunner in San Carlos. These are some shots of the boat "Hammerlane". We were in a classic multihull cup race in these photos. He was below and behind us and getting closer to the rocks, next thing I knew he was flying past us on the high side...... I swear he had his engine on.......

The boat had no centerboard, removed it and plugged the hole. I think it is sloop rigged, and the insides were all tore out of it. Also in my links below, on the shots where the two boats are on the trailers together, that is the same 37'.

Unless another boat came up from from La Paz this is the only 37' I know about in the area. It was bought less than a year ago, and the guy had a lot of work done. It needed a lot. I would be interested to know the name. I know he changed the name, but ask if it is "Hammerlane"

Personally, I wouldn't consider a Searunner with a modification as drastic as plugging the centerboard trunk. I used to think my Wharram cat was pretty fast when I was in my early 20s. Then, when I crewed on a Searunner, the capt asked me why I always steered 20 degrees upwind of my destination... I thought that was how they all side slip! Some years later, back down in Key West in my Seaclipper 28, I raced (and lost) to a Searunner 37 that had been streatched to 41' with DRASTICALLY raked transoms. The centerboard had been replaced by a high aspect daggerboard, that drew 8 or 9', and dominated the cockpit when it was up. On top of that, it was built entirely of 1/4" ply! The boat was empty as well. It was however, unbeliveably fast! The proud owner used to sneer that when John Marples had surveyed the boat, WAY back in Ca., he had said: "The boat's not fit to go beyond the Golden Gate Bridge". Since this guy had been caught in serious storms & survived, he reasoned that John was FULL of it! John was not wrong. The boat was a very fast, but dangerous, abomination. This guy had gotten very lucky, that's all. Searunners are special for striking a perfect balance between performance, seaworthyness, and accomidations. In my case, having all the aches & pains aquired from over 45 fractures, (mostly in my miss spent youth), and intending with the boat full time "only home" liveaboard, I made our Searunner a bit further on the comfort & ease of handeling side, and less on maximum performance. (without giving up Seaworthyness) Going another direction is fine to a point, but it is really not a design that lends itself to something as drastic as ommiting the centerboard. The taller cutter rig, sailed as a sloop, moving the engine location, etc. mods that we made, were with John Marples blessing, or I wouldn't have done it. BTW, For anyone who is not a boatbuilder, thinking of buying a Searunner especially, John would be the guy to get to survey it... IF you can get him to. NO MATTER the transportation cost. Just my opinion,
