To the guys it applies to, buy a catamaran and sail her first before giving advice.
I would have to disagree. That may hold true for some but not all. If I spent 99% of my time at anchor or at the docks I wouldn't have done much sailing. That would mean I sail 1 day out of 100, or about 3.5 days a year. Not what I would call boating.
For some, and maybe the majority it's all about comfort and nothing about performance. I prefer more performance with less comfort. In winds 15 kts and under we do 75-80 % of wind speed, that's on a 36' cat. I would say the average charter 36'er would probably do 50% of wind speed. That's a 25% diffrence, quite a bit. To me it's not about beating other boats to an anchorage it's about being able to sail in winds where most others are motoring. Hell to me 75% of cruising is the rush I get from a good sail. Could I have space and pace? Not on my budget!

About that times I had an FP Lavessi.. It sailed like a pig!! So much so I spent all the time motoring insteads of sailing.. (don't ask). Whilst the Lavessi should be a luxury boat and good when at anchor it was badly laid out.. The main cabin was occupied by the table with a large curved seat behind it. People would sit at the ends blocking the other seats.. The galley looked good but the stowage was all behind the sink and difficult to reach.. In effect the cabin was filled by three people in an eight person boat...The cockpit table took up all the space.. Worse it was shaped so it could not be stowed anywhere .

Knowing I had to do something and having seen the Outremer I started looking around and was introduced to Tomahawk.. We had a lovely day sail but at the time she was not for sale.. Then I got a phone call..

I put the Lavessi on the market and finally got an offer.. However the buyers surveyor found that in only two years she has sevear osmosis!!! seems that almost all the Lavessi has a similar a similar problem. Which is perhaps why FP no longer make them.. It all got sorted but that is another story.

After the day I got married sending the Lavessi away was the second best day of my life.. Taking delivery of Tomahawk was the best...

So my vote can be seen as speed and performance with essential comfort.. We do have very good showers and a lovely dining table for two.. If we get guests... They can sleep in an hotel!!!

as it lenghened

Seems she was built at 43ft by the builders.

I do know at that time Outremer were offering a 40 or a 43 with various beam .. and they also built the interior to the customers spec..

Am pleased you like her.... BUT she is very much NOT for sale... wild horses would not make us part with her.. Indeed the First Officer says she would sell the house before the Tomahawk..

OK

Seems M&M built Play Station... That is the real Play Station .. not the stupid tv games thingie.

I was very very VERY lucky to have a delivery trip on her.. under motor..

It was all carbon fibre .even the galley.. the forward part inside it was black and unpainted like absolute dark.. The odd thing I remember was the instructions for using the toilet. it said and I quote..

"Remember... real sailors ALWAYS sit down"....

Thanks

Its too big for me to be practical, and way way too expensive for me to own but I simply love the look of those bows.

Toilets and showers are essential on any boat. Sailing capability only on one that goes sailing.
