My 32' cat does 7kts in smooth water and always over 5kts unless currents get me. That's burning 3/4 to 1 gallon/hr. I have a biplane rig, homemade lug sails, and a fetish for being comfy...and I can easily do the 50degrees. Clearly someone has an anti-multi ax to grind...wrond thread for that.
