Re: The sexiest Catamaran ever?

Oh yes. ....that Sig 45 is about as good as it gets for me, clean, simple, modern, sleek and I could have almost convinced my self I may be able to afford one down the track......until you mentioned the price😦

Never seen a helm like that but it's interesting. Must be a 1/4 turn lock to lock? Any more info on it?

Thanx for the clarification. I was almost ready to accuse you of being passive/aggressive...again!

If we had all the same taste it will be boring

The Sig 45 is like a big Carbon Stilleto, one that has enough interior space to cruise comfortably. Regarding the middle to be missing, well some prefer to sail on a back of a "house" that offers protection others like more to sail on the open wind with full view forward, some like more a car, some like more a motorcycle. There are boats for all tastes.

I don't know. Would it be better with a Noguchi coffee table? Or is that taking it too far?

The price is insane. I reckon I could build a similar but lighter boat (with no need to use carbon fibre) for half that money, and still make a nice profit.

Probably could, but this one is still cool. I like the open bridge deck . Personally for me , I don't like sitting behind the wall of a catamaran, I don't enjoy being cut off from the view forward thus the open bridge deck is appealing, as long as the accommodation in the hulls is sufficient and with this cat it is. A mate owns a Chris White 55 Alantic, it gets past the wall problem with the forward cockpit . Anyway I don't have the money for either so dreaming it is.

Now I actually prefer the Sig 45 to the bigger brother.

I quite like the Bieker too...

By the way, we think we won our offshore race today and therefore the series, but it will be decided in the protest room. Game on!

You like some cat teenager in love every day with different cat

Sig 45 - I would actually rely on parachute for ultimate storm. Sailing in storm windward should be possible too as nearly all bridgedeck is net and therefore wind cant catch under belly.

I would not mind one too. But would have to be 60 ft at least to satisfy my wifes comfort requirements. And then we talk couple of M for basic version.

Till then will have to avoid storms.

Yup... its just a variation on a 1950's theme.. accommodation in the hulls and an open bridgedeck to keep the windage minimal..
Kinda like jazzing up a Model T Ford.

Well, they have something not very different, with a wind/Spray protection and all the scenery around. Now about the table style I don't know but I guess if you really want a Nogushi there it would be possible, even if a bit odd aesthetically

The Noguchi coffee table reference is sort of an inside joke amongst designers, I think the Barcelona chair is in the somewhere as well.

**** Your Noguchi Coffee Table

Back on topic, I very much like the Sig 45. As with the minimalist accommodations on Chris White's Juniper, it is the antithesis of a cattlemaran and in this respect is close to my own personal ideal. Plus it drives with tillers, which is pretty much of a yeah duh. Wheels are for poseurs.
