I know. Checked you out before. Great boat! Great rig! Not everybody with a mono is backasswards. I try not to be....

Re: The sexiest Catamaran ever?

Lagoon 630 powercat. I just need to wait about five years for a slightly used 630 to come on the market with low hours.

But.... The Sunreef 61 is getting within striking distance. Maybe two years away, better boat.

Akka is quite the beast! She looks like she'd get along ok ... very long, skinny hulls extending well past the bridgedeck ... my kind of weapon!

Re: The sexiest Catamaran ever?

To each his own but that Tag 60 looks like a design made from spare parts. No flow in the visuals at all. Plumb bows, rounded sterns etc... Somehow the Buccaneer mono comes to mind....

I don't agree with you regarding the spare parts but I find it too voluminous and with a too high freeboard on the hulls.

When I started this thread, it was simply because the TAG has been a boat that I have found super attractive for a lot of reasons, not least the way it looks on the water in a fast ride. Sexy is as sexy does and it always makes me liven up a bit. Of not everyone will be attracted to the TAG, other wise we would have nothing but TAGS out there.

Would I have a TAG? Probably not. Out of my league and more boat than I can handle. It doesnt stop me thinking its one sexy beast....

As for a pointless thread, all threads deviate and pursue a different path and out of it comes some great discussions and also pictures of other Catamarans to stir the emotions and give food for thought over design criteria.

I guess it depends what the point is really...

I don't think a thread about beautiful sailboats, being then cats or otherwise can be a pointless thread. Sure what one finds beautiful other not so much but it is the variety of tastes that makes it interesting.

Some beautiful cats on this thread. I will add another one that I find nice, the Dazcat 1495.

Your right, this thread has produced some pictures of some absolutely gorgeous catamarans, well worth the read.

One needs the freeboard for comfort and safety in sea's.. especially under the bridgedeck.. unless like the America's Cup Cats one only sails in flat waters

Is reckless sexy? Seems like we have seen a couple "cruising" cats posted in this thread flying a hull. Or do I have it wrong that it's time to throttle back when a hull starts to come out of the water?

Speaking for the TAG, it comes in two configurations, cruising and racing...

These are not yer usual cruising Cats we are talking about here.....

This one is not really flying a hull but having it light on the water. There is a big difference in what regards remaining stability between that and really flying a hull high, like the Tag on the picture. The Tag is really on the edge and that is a dangerous thing to do on a cruising cat.

The racing tag is not a racing boat but has just a bigger performance potential and can be used as a cruiser-racer even if I bet that it has more times used as a performance cruiser (don't know of any being raced on a major race). The boats posted are performance cats and performance cats are cruising cats.

None of the cats posted here, at least by me, are racing cats. Not many ocean racing ones nowadays being substituted by trimarans that are less edgy in what regards sailing near the limits.
