Keeps the blood pumping and gives as good a reason as any to get out of bed in the morning. Now to turn off the electronics and cast off the lines. I have boating to do.

Load of poppycock. The journey describes all of life. The "destination" is pushing up daisies..

I reckon the HR family had a ball the other day, towing the beast, running the gaunlet of mockers, enjoying the bay and a new anchorage.

Re: The Flyin Hawaiian is gone!

I find it ironic that those here who have spent the most vitriol and time chiding others for reporting the goings-on of Flyin' Hawaiian and her crew have also been amongst the most frequent posters in this thread, thereby feeding the "vultures" and keeping the drama alive. It is also a certainty that these persons have spent a fair amount of time perusing the similar thread on Sailing Anarchy, despite their apparent dislike of the subject matter and great disdain for anybody who is a poster on that site.

Plenty of this going on in this thread:

hypocrite

(1) A person who engages in the same behaviors he condemns others for.

(2) A person who professes certain ideals, but fails to live up to them.

(3) A person who holds other people to higher standards than he holds himself.

Fstbttm, not me, they are a waste of time. And yes, I do check in here, it's CF I don't oppose discussing a big home built cat, it's the false reporting, hiding in a bush spying chit that's creepy and the " can't wait to watch her sink, munching pop corn, munching pop corn" that is just not the CF way( period).

This is great "Reality Show" material. It really could be what Hot Rod is after. In that case he's way ahead of the game. We're the audience. Major channels just haven't picked it up yet.

I would be interested to hear what the FH ends up doing in a 15 kt wind on a beam reach.

Btw. Getting thrown in the pokey on shore leave sounds like the real sailors I grew up around.

It's funny how the bay seems full of humongous lightly built catamarans that are falling apart. Come to think of it, their owners seem arrogant too. HR is the anti-Ellison! For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, FH is the universe trying to maintain equilibrium.

Re: The Flyin Hawaiian is gone!

I believe wisdom is the intersection of TRUTH and GRACE. (people who have been around long enough to know, know that we all are prone to imperfections in character and judgement.)

I am new here and wow! such a wealth of knowledge! I have learned more in the last 2 weeks on this forum than the last two years I owned my last sailboat, AND sought no outside help.

BUT, Holy crap! is this how we treat people?

I really don't care how many miles you've put under the keel. My 10 year old knows better than to treat others like this.

Unless, you think HR is piece of sh!t who deserves it then, by all means stop reading my post now.

For every one person who thinks you are witty 5 think you are sadly misreading the compass.

I believe everyone deserves to be treated with common decency.

Even the knuckleheads who don't know better.

Hey!

You, me and HR have something in common!

This doesn't mean I think you are bad in the slightest, just forgot some basic sh!t we learned as kids.

Last time I checked he's not a child molester. Right?

Just a guy who didn't bother to get YOUR signoff before going after it like rabid dog.

Good on ya HR.

Enjoy the ride! It likely will be bumpy and by the current consensus most dangerous!

Stepping off my soapbox now.

Jeremy

P.S. I would love to hear someone who has actually undertaken a project with the same kind of scope as HR has taken on. Would you have such un-tempered criticism for HR?

I have built 2 sheds before, does that qualify?

but c'mon the guy has screwed up pretty huge.

With this biting assault maybe he has gone past just incompetent.
I bet the stress on him has gotten quite large now.
He could throw in the towel and get some serious help to salvage
his efforts and it could turn out ok. Might work fine as a big houseboat once shored up.

No denials on FH's "seaworthiness" or HR's judgment. I am just saying do we have to be such butthole's about it? When we get to being that negative, do we really believe we are making a positive difference? Isn't making a difference the point?
