Re: The Flyin Hawaiian is gone!

Been in the water for a couple of weeks and there is hull damage from being bumped by a ski boat? Oh dear.

Re: The Flyin Hawaiian is gone!

Look at all the crap on that stern. Makes my "crap on the back" look like the Oracle AC.

Re: The Flyin Hawaiian is gone!

The plot thickens. More excellent reportage from Spoffo over on SA:

65- by 32-foot catamaran 3200sqft of living space - Page 42 - Sailing Anarchy - Sailing Anarchy Forums

So, crew ties the bayliner alongside and he and HR disappear onto the back porch (which is out of sight the way the boat is lying.) Shortly thereafter a hellacious screaming argument breaks out, with Rod doing most of the screaming. I was able to pick up a few repeated phrases . . . "a******!" a lot and . . . . (wait for it) . . . . "knocked a hole in my f****** boat!" . . . . or sometimes "knocked a f****** hole in my brand new boat.."

After his screaming match with Crew (maybe we should call him "Red" or "the Viking"), HR paced up and down the deck shouting much of the same content into his cellphone.

That's what is so great about this whole thing - there's no need for embellishment! A guy called Hot Rod builds himself a floating shed called the Flyin' Hawaiian, sticks a chopper and a BBQ on the back, put his family inside and calls it good. Anyone who tells us we can't have a damn good laugh about that can just... well...
The first decent ocean swell that thing noses up on and that aft "deck" is going to be cleared...no more Weber and Harley-Davidson clutter to stub a toe on.

Re: The Flyin Hawaiian is gone!

Looking at the aft deck and the starboard side I would say he has solar panels, a wind generator and a solar water heater panel. Lots of side lights. Maybe he going green, real green. At least his boat is floating and a lot of us are still on the hard be it sofa or marina.

I intend to put some Styrofoam blueboard under my sofa, launch it and head for Hawaii. I'll call it the Flyin' Recliner.

That was oddly compelling to watch. Just
when you start thinking, 'what else is there
about this boat that's odd' and then you see
they have a dog aboard...then you see there
are 2 dogs aboard. And they're big dogs.
And later there are 3 dogs.

The music, by them, is actually very good.

Thanks for the link, Mike.
Bill:

Thanks. The music was by the Flying Neutrino's who are the children of the elder fellow and his wife on board the raft. Pretty good musicians. I first saw their raft when they were anchored in the Hudson River off of Manhattan in the 1990's when I was working and living on board my boat. They were a few piers down as I recall. I thought it was just a floating "hippie" compound that was eventually bound to sink from the looks of it. It looked like it was put together with "try some of this" plans which it was. I never thought it could make it across the harbor let alone cross the Atlantic but amazingly it did. Though it took them two hops after they ran low on food off of Newfoundland. But, they did make it to France though the French probably were not too happy to see it and then have to dispose of it. Though watching the video they did take some safety precautions such as having VHF radios and radar. I also noticed that everyone seemed to be wearing PFD's as well as some type of harness when they were on deck. Still an amazing voyage on such a craft.

Re: The Flyin Hawaiian is gone!

From SA-

8:40 AM Pacific time - from my upper deck I can see the FH is completely out of the water, HR in the mud with his pants rolled up is scrubbing the boot stripe all around both hulls. I can only see the Port side so can't see any of the previously described damage to the bow. Mom is on the back deck assisting in some way. Tides coming in.

Re: The Flyin Hawaiian is gone!

Wrong,
Are you sure you are NOT on the sh-t list on CF, have you checked all the forums to be sure? So far I have not found anyone carping about what you have done or did in the past. You MAY be lucky and everyone has forgotten that one little thing you have done wrong in the past.......

You will have to tie some balloons to it and fly it there to call it the FR.

You'll def make it, but even if you didn't, "at least you tried". Blue ribbon. A+++ #1. Don't feel like you can't do it. Your biggest obstacle is clearly internet speculation and nay sayers.
